We all know that a walk in nature is a great path to tranquility. But did you know you don’t necessarily have to leave your front room to be able to reap the psychological benefits the great outdoors has to offer? According to a study at the University of Illinois in the US, images of trees are enough to boost our moods. A group of 160 stressed participants were shown 3D videos of residential streets with varying amounts of tree canopy coverage, and results revealed a positive, linear link between tree density and stress recovery. So, if that looming deadline is freaking you out but you can’t leave your desk, go for a virtual walk in the forest and let Google lift the weight off your shoulders.
