Artist Nina Katchadourian documents her meticulous repair of silken webs with patches made with red thread. The spiderweb repair, was later rejected by the spider. Even though the mended part of the web is indistinguishable, possibly the spider doesn’t like the scent of the glue, or doesn’t like that the thread is red, since it must act as a beacon to warn unsuspecting flies. The spider repaired the web to perfect condition using its own methods, throwing the red threads out in the process.
