‘Coco de Mer’ is the largest and heaviest known seed in the world. In the 19th century, sailors brought them back as prized exotic curiosities they found floating in the South Seas. ‘Coco de Mer’ come from a tall palm tree found on one of the 2 islands that make up the 115 Seychelles in the West Indian Ocean, and take 8 to 10 years to ripen on mature palm trees that are over 100 years old.
