  Felt Oven Mitt - Striped

one mitt made of wool felt

Fair Trade

Kathmandu

These colorful OVEN MITTS are so much fun! Just seeing one of them in my kitchen brings a dose of creativity, joy and humor wherever it rests. Since the Oven Mitt is made of Wool Felt, you must use caution when anywhere near a fire. I actually turn my oven off, just to be safe, when using the Oven Mitts. You can use them as trivets as well, to rest warm pots or dishes on.

These Oven Mitts are produced by a women's development aid project in Kathmandu that is dedicated to enhancing the dignity of severely disadvantaged Nepali women. The project helps these women develop the skills necessary to earn a living as well as providing benefits such as welfare and retirement programs, warm meals, bonuses and a girl education fund.

Did you know... that Kathmandu is really two cities: a fabled capital of convivial pilgrims and carved rose-brick temples, and a frenetic sprawl of modern towers, mobbed by beggars and monkeys. The best time to visit is from October to March.
