African market baskets woven in village co-ops in West Africa.

These beautiful and functional baskets are hand-woven by the women of the Fra Fra tribe in northern Ghana. They are woven from river grass and colored with fabric dyes and are used by the women to carry their goods to market. Traditional basket weaving has become a very important source of income for the villagers of this region, and they are made under fair trade conditions. Each basket is unique in color and design.

Proceeds from the sale of these baskets help to:
Provide health care for the weavers and their families.
Provide school supplies for the children of the weavers.
Build community weaving centers for several villages of weavers.

You can either purchase the basket on its own or the one I put together, full of Eco friendly products, such as a solar powered flashlight, stainless steel reusable water bottle, CFL, recycled aluminum foil and many more things. A great gift for someone who wants to learn about and use eco products.
